Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupinder Yadav on Thursday said the department’s Parivesh website had been streamlined in the last nine years to ensure that approvals for projects were given more efficiently and transparently. “In 2014, it took 600 days to process environmental permits after due evaluation by expert committees. Now it takes only 75 days,” said the minister.
Yadav said other permitting processes such as forest clearing, wildlife and regulated coastal areas have been computerized. “All of this has led to transparency and accountability in the whole process,” said Yadav.
