Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday described yoga as an effective way to achieve world peace and the well-being of mankind, apart from being a way to stay healthy both physically and mentally.

Speaking on the occasion of the 9th International Day of Yoga at a program organized in Gorakhpur, the Prime Minister described yoga as a precious gift from the Indian sage tradition to the world for achieving global wellness.

Explaining the importance of yoga, Adityanath said that the ‘pranayama’ practitioners hardly felt the effects of Corona (Covid-19) even during the deadly second wave of the pandemic when people were suffering from problems related to the lungs and were facing respiratory problems. The prime minister said that even pranayama practitioners who contracted the virus recovered within a few days due to the benefits of the asanas.

Adityanath said that pranayama not only strengthens people, but also serves as a means of physical purification. Similarly, ‘yoga’ not only gives stability but also provides physical strength, said the prime minister, adding that yoga is the way to enter the spiritual realm that leads to a broader dimension of consciousness.

Addressing yoga practitioners and apprentices before performing it himself at the Gorakhnath Temple premises, the Chief Minister congratulated the people of the state on the occasion of the International Day of Yoga and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for re-establishing yoga on the ground. global platform.

Adityanath further emphasized that yoga is effective in reducing stress, which is common these days due to unhealthy lifestyles. Appealing to people to make yoga a part of their daily routine, the prime minister said people’s growing sense of anger and violence could also be controlled through the practice of yoga.

Governor Anandiben Patel participated in the International Day of Yoga program at Raj Bhavan here. Speaking on the occasion, Patel said that yoga should be imbued with life.
