RLD President Jayant Chaudhary has written to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to inform him that he will not be able to participate in the Opposition meeting in Patna Bihar On Friday due to the “predetermined family program”.
The Chaudhry-led Rashtriya Lok Dal is an ally of the Samajwadi party, while the distance between the two parties has become apparent in the past few months amid disagreements over seat sharing in the recent Metropolitan Local Authority elections in U.P. However, Rally for Democracy leaders said on Thursday that differences between the two allies had been resolved.
Apart from Jayant Chaudhary, BSP President Mayawati, who was not invited as per Janata Dal (United), will be another big miss in the opposition meeting.
In his message, Chaudhry said, “The need for an hour in which like-minded opposition parties unite while dictatorial and societal forces have become a threat to democracy and societal harmony.”
“After holding discussions about the country’s problems and challenges, the opposition can bring a visionary and pragmatic approach to the people. Together we can win the trust of youth, women, farmers and disadvantaged sections and bring about positive change in the country.
In his message released by the Rally for Democracy on Thursday, Chaudhry said he was “confident that the meeting will be an important step towards unity of the opposition”. “I wish you all the best to succeed in your goal.”
A senior RLD leader said that although Chaudhry will not be able to attend Friday’s meeting, he supports JD(U) President Nitish Kumar’s initiative. RLD leader said, “Jayant ji had a predetermined program with his family to travel to a foreign country on June 16. Some of his relatives live there, and the program was predetermined.”
But he supports Nitish Kumar and his efforts to join the opposition together. If he was in the country, he would definitely have gone to the meeting on Friday.”
