IMD added that the southwest monsoon has moved to some parts of Telangana, most parts of Andhra Pradesh, parts of Odisha, parts of west central and northwest Bay of Bengal, and other parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar.

An official said the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said the southwest monsoon had advanced to parts of several states.

IMD added that the southwest monsoon has moved to some parts of Telangana, most parts of Andhra Pradesh, parts of Odisha, parts of west central and northwest Bay of Bengal, and other parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar.

“The conditions are favorable for further advance of the southwest monsoon over some other parts of southern peninsular India, the remaining parts of Odisha, the Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, some parts of Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh within two or three days. Coming predicted by the Meteorological Agency.

Meanwhile, the heat wave in the isolated pockets above Vidarbha is very likely to continue and then subside.

The IMD also predicted light/moderate rain in most places with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms and lightning during the next seven days in the country’s northeast and adjacent east.

“Heavy to very heavy rains fell in Assam, Meghalaya and the Himalayan sub-Himalayas of West Bengal, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh on June 23,” the statement read.

IMD also added that isolated heavy rains were also likely over Bihar on June 23, Gangetic West Bengal on June 25 and Odisha from June 22 to 26, with isolated heavy rainfall over Odisha from June 23 to 25.

“Precipitation is likely to increase from June 27 over eastern India and is likely to be isolated to very heavy over Odisha, southern Jharkhand and adjoining areas in Gangetic West Bengal from June 27 to 28,” it added.

Meanwhile, somewhat light/moderate rain with isolated thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh from June 23-28 and over the plains of northwest India except western Rajasthan from June 25.

“Light rain/thunderstorm and lightning is likely in isolated locations over western Rajasthan from 27 to 28 June,” IMD said.
