Sebastian Korda said he feels as though being one of the favorites at Wimbledon has taken the tennis world by storm, with many fans online having a different reaction.

Speaking to the media following his victory over Frances Tiafoe in Round 2 of the 2023 Queen’s Club Championship, Korda sang praises for his performance on the grass.

“I move really well and I definitely have a game that a lot of people don’t have, I’m an aggressive player, I like to hit the net, I have good hands and I definitely feel as if I’m one of the favorites at Wimbledon,” Korda stated.

The 22-year-old American already possesses a grass-court skill set. This is evidenced by his victory over Tiafoe, the 2023 Stuttgart Open champion.

Fans and journalists agreed that Korda could succeed at Wimbledon in the future, but perhaps not this year.

Tennis journalist Jose Morgado wrote on Twitter: “I don’t think that’s the case this year, but I really think a healthy Sebe Korda could be a favorite for Wimbledon. It’s amazing to watch him play on the roof.”

However, many fans were quick to remind Korda that there was Novak Djokovic, the seven-time Wimbledon winner and current champion.

“Djokovic must be rolling on the floor laughing and howling ‘someone else!'” one fan wrote on social media. “.

Here are some reactions:

@tweet There are things you think about yourself, and then there are things you say out loud in front of the media of the world

@employee You’ll probably win the grass court tournament first before you give yourself that mark.

@employee I love this guy and no doubt his playing style suits the turf, but is he a favorite of the title?

@employee Tennis on Twitter: The next generation doesn’t believe they can win the Grand Slam. They worship the Big Three too much. They also worship tennis on Twitter: what arrogance of the next generation to think they can win the four slams. The Big Three have not declared themselves favorites for anything. 🤷‍♂️

@tweet One of my favorites to lose to Djokovic 🙂

@tweet I agree with him. He’s great on the turf, the only question mark being his physical conditions. She could easily be in the top eight at Wimbledon if everything works out for the best. we will see!

@tweet Did something happen to Djokovic or was this just fantasy land?
