Legendary Muay Thai forwards Praganchai BK Saenchai and Sam A Gayanghadao are on a collision course on Friday to fight for the Muay Thai strawweight title.
Their first match in July 2021 showed an incredible degree of finesse and skill alike, as the two strikers battled to become first-class players in the world. At that time, Praganchai was edged out by winning a majority decision to overthrow the long-serving king Sam-er-Jianghadao.
Now, with current Muay Thai King Joseph Laceri temporarily out of competition due to injury, fans have an amazing sequel to look for.
ONE Championship shared the buzz with fighting fans this week with a highlight reel of their first encounter at ONE: Battleground, which took place inside an MMA cage at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Under the video, they captioned the following:
“Prajanchai vs. Prajanchai_pk.”
Sam-A returns to the fray with a renewed drive to take back the Straw Belt after Lasiri is knocked out. He made headlines this past March after coming out of retirement to take on Ryan Sheehan in a Muay Thai match at ONE Friday Fights 9. Unsurprisingly, the Thai superstar walked away from that fight with a second-round knockout.
Meanwhile, Praganchai returned to the winning column after resigning the seat to Lasiri the previous year. He earned a much needed decision victory over Kompetch Sitsarawatsuer in ONE Friday Fight 1 earlier this year to get back into contention for the world title.
Fortunately, Prajanchai and Sam-A have the chance of a lifetime to prove why they are the best strikers in the world.
ONE Friday Fights 22 will take place inside the famous Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday, June 23. North American fans can watch the main event live at 8:30 AM EST on ONE Championship’s free YouTube channel.
