Napoli have informed Manchester United and Chelsea’s agent, Victor Osimhen, that they will not sell the player for less than €150m.
Osimhen was a key player for the Napoli club in the recently concluded season. Scored 31 goals and provided five assists in 39 matches across competitions. The Nigerian has attracted interest from major European clubs with his performance.
Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Chelsea are among the clubs that have expressed interest in the 24-year-old. However, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis put a high price tag on the player.
De Laurentiis added that Napoli have an agreement to extend Osimhen’s contract for another two years:
“We have a preliminary agreement with Victor Osimhen to extend his contract for another two years. In the event that an exorbitant offer arrives that it is impossible to refuse, we will see and make the best decision for the club.”
However, Sky Italia reports that the first set of talks between Osimhen and Napoli has been inconclusive.
The Manchester United and Chelsea target visits his hometown
During his time in European football, Victor Osimhen became a household name. His performances attracted the interest of major clubs such as Manchester United and Chelsea.
However, the player remains rooted in their country of origin. He recently visited his hometown, Olususon, in Nigeria. Osimhen took to social media to post a message after returning from the venue:
“Going back to where my dream and football journey began in Ulususun gives me goosebumps. I am so humbled and grateful to the roots that shaped my dreams. This is me once again appreciating their love and support. I will always cherish Ulusun and the people. Thank you!”
Since his 2020 move to Napoli from Losque Lille, Osimhen has been a regular in Serie A. He scored 59 goals and provided 14 assists in 101 matches across all competitions. What lies ahead for the 24-year-old is not yet clear.
