India and the United States also expressed “deep concern about the deteriorating situation in Myanmar,” where the military overthrew a nascent civilian government in 2021.

The two countries called for “the release of all arbitrary detainees, the establishment of constructive dialogue and the transition of Myanmar towards a comprehensive federal democratic system.”

Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Modi said there could be no “if-ifs” in dealing with terrorism and sought action against state sponsors of terrorism, in a veiled attack on Pakistan.
