After making their first pick in the 2023 NBA draft, the Indiana Pacers made their first trade since things started. After selecting Bilal Coulibaly with pick #7, they quickly traded him to the Washington Wizards.

Part of the reason the Indiana Pacers made the trade was because they had their sights set on one prospect. This being Jaras Walker. The 6-foot-8 forward played with Houston last season and averaged 11.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

With this trade, the Pacers get the best of both worlds. They’re walking away from the prospect they want in Walker, and they’re sure to get more assets in return by sending Coulibaly to the Washington Wizards.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowksi, the Pacers will get a pair of second-round picks in 2028 from the Wizards in exchange for Coulibaly.

Compensation update on the Wizards moves to No. 7, sources say: Washington sends their 2028 Indiana second-round pick over Phoenix and their 2028 second-round pick.
