Dan Orlovsky calls on Patriots to aggressively pursue DeAndre Hopkins to help Mac Jones

The New England Patriots have been linked with a move for wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins all season as they seek a star to assist quarterback Mack Jones.
The Patriots signed Jojo Smith-Schuster and Mike Gesicki in the offseason, but a player of Hopkins’ caliber could potentially unlock Jones’ ability to excel in the league.
The former Arizona Cardinals star made a positive visit to New England two weeks ago, but contract negotiations reportedly didn’t progress.

However, Dan Orlovsky wants the Patriots to be aggressive in their pursuit of Hopkins because he believes the wide receiver will have a huge impact on Jones’ future with the franchise.
That’s what Orlovsky said “The Pat McAfee Show”:
“I feel better about the Mack Jones situation, because I’m sitting here today, I’d feel a lot better if they brought in D Hop, I was adamant, they need to get D Hop into that building.”
“If you tell me they’ve got a D Hop, I’m sitting here saying Mack Jones is going to make one of those big jumps in year three. If they go into the season, they don’t have a D Hop. I still think he’ll play better and better, but it won’t be enough to chase people within their department.”
The New England Patriots seem to be in competition with the Tennesee Titans to sign DeAndre Hopkins, and as of right now no one knows where he will end up.
Given the strength of their division, it will be difficult for the Patriots to generate any buzz next season if they fail to sign Hopkins.

Mac Jones needs good players around him to maximize his potential
Jones had a very good rookie season with the Patriots but his sophomore year in the NFL didn’t go according to plan. Absent was quarterback Josh McDaniels, who was the offensive coordinator for the Patriots in Jones’ rookie season.
Many expect Jones to do better under new offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien, and if the franchise is able to sign DeAndre Hopkins, that would be the best-case scenario for the former Alabama quarterback.
Mack Jones hasn’t played with this caliber of stars since entering the NFL. Therefore, playing with the Hopkins Patriots will likely help determine whether Jones is the quarterback of the future.
