Haas team boss Guenther Steiner feels Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg’s relationship shouldn’t be too friendly, simply because, as teammates, they need to compete and push each other forward.

Speaking to The Guardian, Steiner immediately made it clear how his teammates should not be friends but rivals, pushing each other and the car to the limit. He said:

“At the moment they are fine, but I always say teammates should not be friends because the competition will go away. They need to compete to get the best out of the car for the team.”

Moreover, he talked about the rocky relationship between Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg and how they settled their differences a few years back. He also revealed how he had a conversation with Magnussen about the German joining the team. According to Steiner, the Danish driver was happy to have Hulkenberg as a member of the team. The Haas chief added:

“They don’t hang out together on the weekend, but it cleared the air a few years ago. I spoke with Kevin because I wanted to make sure there was no animosity between them and he said, ‘I’m very happy to have Nico as a team member because he’s a very good driver.’” , that was good “.

Not surprisingly, both Formula One drivers have pitted against each other in midfield and have had some battles with words off the track. Although they are currently on good terms, only time will tell how they will react if and when they have a close race with each other or when they have an accident.
