LeBron James has begun building his dream home in Beverly Hills, California more than two years after he purchased the $36.8 million property in September 2020. James has been living in Los Angeles since 2018 when he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency.
According to the Daily Mail, construction began earlier this week after two years of legal action. James initially demolished the house within the property where Audrey Hepburn lived.
Builders, trucks and heavy machinery can be seen within the 2.5 acres of land. It signals James’ intention to live permanently in Los Angeles and continue building his brand, which is now worth a billion dollars. It also means he’s closer to retirement than ever.

James retired after the Lakers swept the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals. One of his close friends, Carmelo Anthony, had recently announced his retirement at the time and may have taken James’ cryptic message into consideration.
“Going forward in the game of basketball, I have a lot to think about,” said James.

Who owned the property before LeBron James bought it?
LeBron James purchased the property for $36.8 million in September 2020. It was built in the 1930s and first owned by Charles Boyer. He is a four-time Acadamy Award-nominated actor known for his roles in films such as God’s paradise And love relationship.
Boyer then sold the property to billionaire Howard Hughes, who leased it to Audrey Hepburn. When the legendary actress left, it was owned by several people outside of Hollywood before it was bought by William Brent Bell and Lee Philip Bell in 1986. The Young and the Restless.
