Das said 1.1 kilograms of heroin was hidden in 87 boxes of soap in a suitcase along with 37,000 rupees in cash.
Police said on Saturday that security forces have arrested two people and seized heroin worth more than Rs 8 crore in Karbi Anglong district of Assam state.
Based on a tip-off, a joint team of Police and Reserve Police Force personnel stopped two persons near Janakbukhuri district under Khatkhati police station bordering Nagaland and confiscated the drugs, said John Das, Bukagan Sub-district Police Officer.
Das said 1.1 kilograms of heroin was hidden in 87 boxes of soap in a suitcase along with 37,000 rupees in cash.
Police said the people arrested were L Pabhou Doney and H Thow, who were allegedly bringing contraband from Manipur.
