Highlighting the various achievements of Narendra Modi’s government in its nine years, Singh said that India is now a strong country and all countries around the world are looking to it for solutions to various issues.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Sunday that the Congress, which imposed the state of emergency, now falsely accuses the BJP government of suppressing democracy.

Singh addressed two rallies in Agra, in Uttar Pradesh state, on Sunday and trained his gun on Congress.

Describing the emergency, imposed by the Indira Gandhi government on this day in 1975, as the “dark phase of Indian democracy,” the BJP leader said, “I was imprisoned for 16 months and kept in seclusion for about two years – half a month during the emergency. Many innocent people were held in prisons.”

“But the Congress party today falsely accuses the BJP government of suppressing democracy… If the BJP was stifling democracy then how could the Congress form governments in states like Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan,” he said.

He said Congress and other opposition parties are uniting with the sole motive of defeating Prime Minister Narendra Modi and seizing power.

Highlighting the various achievements of Narendra Modi’s government in its nine years, Singh said that India is now a strong country and all countries around the world are looking to it for solutions to various issues.

Every Indian felt proud when Prime Minister Modi addressed a joint session of the US Congress. “It was an honor for the nation,” he said.

He said that before Modi came to power in 2014, the Indian economy ranked 11th globally, but in the nine years since it has become the world’s fifth largest.

It also highlighted the evacuation of Indian nationals from Ukraine during its war with Russia and India to supply several countries with COVID-19 vaccines during the pandemic.
