Prime Minister Modi has arrived in the national capital from Cairo, on his first visit to Egypt

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has returned to New Delhi after concluding his two-country visit to the US and Egypt, which yielded significant results in various fields including trade, food security, technology and defence.

Prime Minister Modi has arrived in the national capital from Cairo, on his first visit to Egypt.

He was greeted by BJP President JP Nada and other party leaders.

During his two-day stay, he met with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and the Egyptian ministers appointed to the Unity of India following El-Sisi’s state visit to India in January.

Sunday’s discussions included trade and investment, renewable energy, information technology and pharmaceuticals.

The leaders also signed an agreement to elevate bilateral relations between India and Egypt to the level of a “strategic partnership”.

An official statement highlighted that Prime Minister Modi and President Sisi have explored further collaboration within the G20, focusing on issues such as food and energy insecurity, climate change, and the need for a united voice from the global south.

The talks also dealt with defense and security relations.

In Cairo, Modi also visited the 11th-century Al-Hakim Mosque, which has undergone a renovation by Bohra Muslims, an offshoot of Shiite Islam with a large presence in Gujarat, home to the prime minister.

Prior to his visit to Cairo, Modi embarked on a four-day state visit to the United States.

During this trip, he received a formal welcome to the White House.

Prime Minister Modi and US President Joe Biden reviewed the full scope of Indo-US relations and discussed ways to deepen the partnership.

Fruitful talks were held between the two sides in both restricted formats and at the delegation level and a number of achievements were announced in the joint state statement.

While in New York, Prime Minister Modi participated in the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations Headquarters.

He has also dealt with top American corporations and tech CEOs, promoting India as a leading investment destination across the world.

Additionally, Modi interacted with members of the Indian diaspora.
