There were two matches played on Sunday in Tamil Nadu Premier League 2023. The afternoon encounter saw Lyca Kovai Kings defeat Dindigul Dragons comprehensively and the night match saw Idream Tiruppur Tamizhans defeat Ba11sy Trichy. Both matches were played at the SCF Cricket Ground in Salem.
With the victory over Dindigul Dragons, Lyca Kovai Kings moved to the top of the points table. They replaced the Nellai Royal Kings who had slipped to second place, thanks to a lower net run rate. The Kovai Kings have a net run rate of +1.763 while the Royal Kings have a net run rate of +0.558.
Dindigul Dragons suffered their first defeat in the Tamil Nadu Premier League and slipped to third place. They have six points to their name and a net run rate of +0.434. Chepauk Super Gillies sit six points below the Dragons to their name and a net run rate of +0.485.
Idream Tiruppur Tamizhans scored their second win in TNPL 2023 and moved into fifth position. Beneath them sit the Madurai Sekhem Leopards who have only two points under their belt. The Salem Spartans have lost three games so far and won only one, and the Panthers follow. Ba11sy Trichy remains winless in the competition as it teeters at the bottom of the points table.
Ba11sy Trichy remains useless in TNPL 2023
The 17th match of the 2023 Tamil Nadu Premier League saw IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans face off against Ba11sy Trichy. Ravesrinivasan Sai Kishore (50) and Balchander Anirudh (51) hit the fifties as Thamizhaan scored 201 on the board. Trichy’s batsmen then faltered in the chase as they finished their innings on 155/8 to lose the match by 46 runs. With this, Trichy suffered his fourth straight loss in the competition to remain winless.
The sixteenth game saw the Lyca Kovai Kings defeat the Dindigul Dragons comprehensively. On the back of an impressive 83 from B Sai Sudharsan, Kovai Kings posted a giant 206 on the board. The bowlers then stepped up and bowled the Dragons out for 147 to win the match by 59 runs. The Dragons were completely outclassed on Sunday and suffered their first loss of TNPL 2023.
