Following the accident, the railway on the Kharagpur-Bankura-Adra line was suspended

At least 12 coaches of two goods trains derailed Sunday morning after two locomotives collided near Bankura, West Bengal. The incident was reported around 4 am at Onda station, when a train missed or jumped the signal and hit the back of another train, according to sources.

So far, there have been no reports of any injuries as a result of the accident. However, the driver of one of the freight trains sustained minor injuries in the accident, according to a report by the India today.

Following the accident, the railway on the Kharagpur-Bankura-Adra line was suspended. Sources on the ground told News 18 that the engine of one of the trains was damaged after colliding with another train from behind due to the speeding sign.

Both were empty goods trains and the cause of the accident and how the two trains collided remains unclear. The train services in the Adra section were affected by this accident.
