Four people have been killed and several others injured in lightning accidents in Rajasthan as the first monsoon rains were received in some parts of the state, officials said Monday.
They said the deaths were reported in the districts of Pali, Paran and Chittorgarh.
The monsoon entered parts of the state on Sunday bringing light to moderate rain and heavy rains in some districts of Udaipur, Kota, Bikaner and Jaipur.
A spokesman for the Meteorological Department said that as of Monday morning, 10 cm of rain had been recorded in Kattumar of Alwar and Khamnur in Rajsamand districts.
The spokesman said that 8 cm of rainfall was recorded in Jongunu in Surajgarh, while 7 cm in Bhinsrudgarh in Chittorgarh, Ajitgarh in Sikar, Kota and Ramganj Mandi were recorded.
Alwar Kotkasim district received 6 cm of rain and 6 cm of Baswar in Dosa, while many other places recorded rainfall ranging between 1-5 cm.
Lightning strikes, in which four people were killed, were also reported.
Police said Dinesh, 21, died after being struck by lightning in the Bali district on Sunday night.
Police said two of Paran’s cousins ​​- Hariram, 46, and Kamal, 32 – were killed in a lightning strike while a 10-year-old girl was killed in Chittorgarh. In Baduli Ghata Gram Panchayat of Nimbaheda branch, three brothers and their nephew were injured as a tree they were sitting under was struck by lightning while it was raining.
Police said the four were taken to the district hospital in Nimbahida. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in many districts including Ajmer, Alwar, Banswara, Baran, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Dholpur, Dungarpur and Jaipur on the following days coming.
The management has also issued an orange alert (be aware) for some areas including Ajmer, Bhilwara and Tonk.
