According to El Nacional, Guido Rodriguez, a potential Barcelona replacement, could join Napoli in the summer. Rodriguez plays for Real Betis in the Spanish League.

The 29-year-old was part of the Argentina national team that won the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He has made 144 appearances for Betis, including 44 last season, and is one of the Blaugrana’s transfer targets this summer.

Barcelona is looking for options to sign a replacement for Sergio Busquets. The Spaniard will leave on a free transfer in the summer and join Inter Miami.

While Rodriguez is on the shortlist, the Blaugrana face competition from Napoli. The Serie A champions are looking to bolster their midfield as they look forward to a fresh start under new manager Rudi Garcia.

According to the aforementioned report, Rodriguez is afraid of becoming a Barcelona player, which is not something he is interested in. Thus, he prefers to move to Naples instead.

He told Barcelona why Xavi Simons left the club as a youngster

Xavi Simons was one of the luckiest players in Barcelona when he left the club as an academy player in 2019. Simons decided to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Simmons now plays for Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven and has been in amazing form lately. He scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists in 48 games across competitions in the recently concluded season.

A person close to the player, Fernie Agudlo, said (via Barcelona Blaugranes):

“It wasn’t a matter of money. His entourage realized he had reached his roof and thought of joining another sporting project.

“Simmons focused on improving day by day, but Barcelona did not give him a guarantee that if everything went well, he would make his debut in the first team before the age of 18. It was Xavi who struggled the most.”

Simmons’ quality is proven, and has been on display recently, so a future return to the Camp Nou cannot be ruled out.
