Calhoun met Modi and discussed the significance of Boeing’s eight-decade aerospace partnership with India during the Prime Minister’s state visit to the United States.

Boeing CEO David L Calhoun said his company supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” initiative and will play a key role in the country’s rapidly expanding commercial aviation market.

Calhoun met Modi and discussed the significance of Boeing’s eight-decade aerospace partnership with India during the prime minister’s state visit to the US.

“Boeing is proud to play a key role in India’s rapidly expanding commercial aviation market, and in the mission readiness and modernization of the country’s defense forces,” Calhoun said Sunday.

“We support Prime Minister Modi’s Make in India initiative, with more than 5,000 people in India pursuing high-quality careers doing innovative work with Team Boeing,” he said.

Calhoun said Boeing’s increased investment in India underscores not only the strength of the company’s partnership with the country but also the positive trajectory of the broader economic relationship between the United States and India.

At last week’s Paris Air Show, Boeing announced new service contracts in India as well as the completion of an Air India order for up to 290 new Boeing aircraft.
