Liverpool have reportedly approached Real Madrid over a deal for midfielder Federico Valverde. According to Catalan website El Nacional, the Reds have made an offer of €70m for the Uruguay.
Los Blancos continue to expel players from the squad, those they believe are not part of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans. La Liga has already lost the likes of Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio and Mariano Diaz to free transfers. Ferland Mendy and Lucas Vazquez are expected to leave soon.
Another name that could leave the Santiago Bernabeu this window is Valverde. The 24-year-old could drop down the pecking order at Real Madrid due to his plethora of options in midfield.
Los Blancos already have the likes of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Eduardo Camavinga. They also signed Judd Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund for an initial fee of €103m this summer.
Thus, club president Florentino Perez could be persuaded to sell the Uruguay. The El Nacional report claims Liverpool made a €90m bid for Valverde last year, but the player was deemed untouchable. Now, with the situation different, Real Madrid can be persuaded to part with their player.
The Reds will be keen to continue strengthening their midfield. While initially interested in Bellingham, they eventually decided to give up their pursuit due to his €100m-plus asking price. They have since completed a deal for Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Manager Jurgen Klopp is understood to be a big fan of Valverde, who is adept at playing various positions. He scored 12 goals and made seven assists in 56 matches across competitions for Ancelotti’s team last season.
Liverpool receives a message regarding the pursuit of the Real Madrid star
Liverpool have been informed that a deal for Real Madrid’s Orlin Tchoameni has been completed. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano explained in his YouTube video that the French player is an important part of the club’s project.
He said:
“About Aurelien Tchoameni, his name is rumored to be for Premier League clubs – no. At the moment, Tchoameni’s intention is to stay at Real Madrid. They want him to stay, he is a crucial player in the project and the club’s future so nothing has changed about Tchoameni.”
This comes after a report from the Catalan website El Nacional that Liverpool was studying a £55m offer for Chomeni.
The 23-year-old joined Los Blancos from Monaco for €100m last summer but has struggled for regular playing time. He started 33 games across competitions, and made 50 starts in total. With the arrival of Jude Bellingham, his role could be further depleted.
