The Madhya Pradesh state government has agreed to grant Manipur’s appeal to allow students from the northeastern state to submit papers for university admission offline due to internet outages in some violent areas of the state, an official said on Sunday.

In a circular issued on Saturday, the Parliament’s Ministry of Higher Education asked all private and government colleges to accept offline admission forms from Manipuri students, he said.

“All admissions to MP colleges are done online. Every year, students from Manipur are admitted to MP colleges but this time they were facing problems due to lack of internet connectivity after violence broke out there in the first week of May.”

He added that these students include athletes from there who join sports academies in Parliament and seek to pursue educational courses alongside them.

Manipur has been plagued by violence between the Mitte and Koki communities since May 3. More than 100 people have been killed so far.
