One dead in fire due to gas leakage in Goregaon house

A person has been caught in a fire, which was started due to a gas leak, in a house in Shri Ganesh Rahivasi Seva Mandal area of ​​Goregaon on Monday morning.

It was announced that the victim Harish Chavan (55) was ‘murdered’ at the HBT Trauma Care Hospital in Jogeshwari. No other injuries or deaths were reported in the accident.

A senior official from Goregaon Police Station said, “The fire started due to a gas leak in the radiator. Investigation is underway.”

The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) was informed of the fire at 8.10am, but a senior fire brigade official said local residents put out the fire even before they could reach the site.

Speaking to The Indian Express, the official said the fire broke out around 7.30am, but locals reported the fire much later. “According to the locals, one of the people living in the house was cooking when a sudden flame broke out. There was no explosion in the LPG cylinder. The fire spread as clothes and things in the house caught fire.”

Meanwhile, according to the preliminary report of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the fire remained confined to the gas burner and cylinder.
