What can fans expect from star forward?

Pierre-Luc Dubois has made it clear that he will not re-sign with the Winnipeg Jets and all indications are that he is being traded to the Los Angeles Kings.

As of now, the deal is not done but according to all NHL reporters, the deal with the Kings is closing and could be finalized before the draft.

If Dubois is traded to the Kings, he could potentially sign a contract extension with the club and play a big part in the team in contention for next year’s Cup.

What would Pierre-Luc Dubois offer to royalty?

Pierre-Luc Dubois is only 25 years old and he will already be on his third National Hockey League team. There might be cause for some concern, though, since he wanted out of both the Columbus Blue Jackets and Winnipeg Jets.

However, neither Columbus nor Winnipeg were ready to compete for the Stanley Cup, while the Kings were.

With Los Angeles, Dubois will add depth to his lineup, as he can slide into a second-line center role. This would push Philippe Danault to the third line, a much better role for a defensive player.

Although Dubois was meant to be a leading center in the NHL, he could add some much-needed points to the second line as well as slip into the second powerplay unit.

Last year, Dubois had 63 points in 73 games and proved his scoring ability.

With Anze Kopitar’s career drawing to a close, Dubois’ signing will allow him to slip into a first-line center role once Kopitar decides to retire.

Along with his ability to fit in perfectly at the second line position and second unit playing block, Pierre-Luc Dubois will also add much-needed size and physicality to the Kings lineup.

Dubois isn’t afraid to throw putts and play with an advantage, as the 6’2″ 205-pound Canadian had 77 PIM points last season and the year before that had 106. Although Dubois’ body throwing can gain traction, he receives inappropriate penalties. Necessary, which sometimes hurt the Jets last season.

More often than not, however, Dubois’ offense and physique are a huge benefit to any team he plays for.

Finally, the last thing Dubois brings is experience in qualifying. He’s proven that his game translates well into the playoffs, as he scored four points in five games last year and has 26 points in 38 playoff games.
