Two employees were injured after five men vandalized a petrol pump in Ludhiana on Sunday allegedly angry at the pump’s refusal to fill a bottle of fuel. One person has been arrested in connection with this.
The accident happened at a petrol station in a focal area of Ludhiana late Sunday. Police said the accused vandalized fuel dispensers, CCTV cameras and two LED screens, and allegedly stole Rs 10,000 in cash from the staff. They also allegedly threatened to set fire to the gas station.

The first information report was recorded on the complaint of pump owner Inderjeet Singh, who told the police that two bicycle-loaded men came and asked them to fill petrol in the bottle. After the staff refused to fill the bottle, the accused reportedly abused them before leaving. Later, they returned with their lieutenants and opened an attack on the staff, threatening them with sharp-edged weapons and iron bars, according to the FIR.
The report added that after the employees locked themselves in the cabin to save their lives, the defendants opened the door and dragged them outside. Two petrol pump employees – Mukesh and Sanjeev – were injured in the attack and were taken to hospital.
Jaskiranjit Singh Teja of Ludhiana DCP (Rural) said that the police have arrested one of the accused and a manhunt is on for the others. The FIR was registered at Moti Nagar Police Station under Sections 307 of the Indian Penal Code (Attempted Murder), 323, 379-B, 427, 148, 149 and 506.
Police arrested Sonu Thakkar while his assistants including Ajay Kumar, Sahil from Muslim Colony, Rohit Deep Nagar and Harsh aka Ravi from Muslim Colony were not taken into custody.
