Rs 30 cr fraud case: AU president’s pre-arrest bail plea rejected

The Rajkot District Court and Sessions on Tuesday dismissed the petition of Tyagvallabh Swamy, President of Atmea University (AU), seeking protection from arrest in a case of fraud and criminal conspiracy worth Rs 30 crore registered against him and others.

Tyagvallabh Swamy is the secretary of Sarvodaya Kelvani Mandal (SKM), the charitable trust that runs the African Union, Pavitra Jani, the complainant in the case said.

On a complaint filed by Jani, Rajkot Police has booked taluka ‘Secretary and Administrators’ of SKM, Dharmesh Jeevani, wife of Dharmesh Vishakhi Jeevani, and another person, Nilesh Makwana, under various IPC departments.

In his complaint, Jani, who worked as a personal assistant to late Hariprasad Swami, head of a faction of the Swaminarayan sect, stated that Tyagvallabh Swami embezzled Rs 30 crore between 2004 and 2016 by transferring money to various fraudulent accounts.
