Arsenal have reportedly agreed a deal with West Ham United for midfielder Declan Rice.

The Daily Mail reports that Arsenal have agreed a deal in principle with the Hammers to make Rice their record signing at the club. It is reported that the value of the deal is 105 million pounds sterling. It broke the previous record of £72m spent on Nicolas Pepe in 2019.

Arsenal failed in two previous bids before making their last bid on Tuesday (27 June). North Londoners offered £100m guaranteed plus a further £5m in add-ons.

The two clubs then entered talks on Wednesday to work out the structure of the deal. The guaranteed portion of the £105m offer will reportedly be paid over four years.

This means the Gunners have finally struck a deal for the top transfer target. There were some doubts raised when Manchester City entered the equation on Tuesday and made a £90m bid. However, this was rejected by West Ham and they soon decided to drop their interest.

Declan Rice has always wanted to move to Arsenal because he wanted to stay in London. The England international has been in fine form this season, scoring five goals and providing four assists in 50 appearances across competitions.

The 24-year-old has led West Ham to glory in the UEFA Champions League. However, he wanted a move to a club in the UEFA Champions League and it seems he got his wish.

Declan Rice is set to sign a long-term contract worth a minimum of £250,000-a-week. Personal terms would not be an issue and Mikel Arteta has already identified him as a potential future captain.
