Half-centuries by Steve Smith, David Warner and Travis Head on day one helped Australia dominate England in the second Ashes Test

England captain Ben Stokes won the toss in cloudy conditions in the morning and elected to bowl first to gain the advantage. Usman Khawaja (17 from 70 balls) started cautiously as the English ballplayers drove the ball both ways from the start.
