The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said the monsoon hit Delhi and Mumbai earlier this week and is likely to cover the remaining parts of the country including Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab in the next couple of days.
Today, Thursday, the Meteorological Department said that cloudy skies with light to moderate rain are expected in the national capital in the next five days. Heavy rains battered parts of the national capital on Thursday, dropping the minimum temperature to 23.8 degrees Celsius – four degrees below the season average.
Meanwhile, the maximum temperature settled at 34.2 degrees Celsius — three degrees below normal, the IMD bulletin reported.
After heavy rains in Delhi and surrounding areas, the weather department issued an ‘orange’ alert in the city.
IMD uses four color codes for weather warnings – “green” (no action required), “yellow” (watch and stay updated), “orange” (be prepared), and “red” (take action). The orange alert is a warning that must be prepared, indicating the possibility of traffic disturbances and waterlogging, which have been reported in several areas of the city.
