Sources said those summoned were asked to narrate the sequence of events in the 2021 arrest of Aryan Khan, Arbaaz and others by Wankidi and his team. The sources added that they will also be asked about the bribery of Wankidi, the then director of the Anti-Narcotics District, who is wanted from them.

Model Arbaaz Merchant and others have been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with Sameer and Ankhid’s bribery case, sources told CNN-News18 on Friday. They have all been asked to join the investigation in Delhi.

An Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, Ankidi and four others have been charged with seeking a ₹25 crore bribe from actor Shah Rukh Khan for not implicating his son Aryan in the Cordelia Cruz drug bust case. It is said that Arbaaz was a friend of Aryan who was with him on the cruise ship.

The sources said that those who were summoned were asked to narrate the sequence of events in the year 2021 of the arrest of Aryan, Arbaz and others by Wankidi and his team. The sources added that they will also be asked about the bribery of Wankidi, the district director of the Narcotics Control Bureau at the time, which is required of them.

Wankidi, who was the officer in charge of the case against Aryan Khan, was accused of corruption and extortion. His tenure with the National Central Bank ended in December. Subsequently, he was shifted to the Income Tax Department Chennai branch.

A special investigation team from the National Central Bank headed by Deputy Director General Janeshwar Singh found several irregularities in the way Wankidi conducted the investigation.

The names of 17 suspects were allegedly omitted from official documents submitted in connection with the case.

Wankidi allegedly allowed two civilians, KB Gosavi and his assistant Sanvil D’Souza, to accompany the NCB team of officials in the Cordelia raid. Later, they gave the suspects the impression that they were central bank officials.
