Barcelona striker Ferran Torres has stated that he wants to continue at the club amid rumors linking him away from Spotify’s Camp Nou.
Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano reported via Twitter on Friday, 30 June, that Torres was attracting interest from Aston Villa. Unai Emery’s squad has been active early in this transfer window and is expected to strengthen his squad following qualification for the 2023-24 UEFA Europa League.
the Blograna, meanwhile, need to make some sales before signing players, even though they did bring in Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer. Torres has been repeatedly floated as one of the players that could be sold this summer to raise more cash.
However, the Spaniard said he has no intention of moving away from his current team. He said (according to what Romano reported in his tweet on Twitter):
“I can’t wait to continue at Barcelona. I’m really happy at Barcelona and my plan is to continue at the club.”

earlier on friday, Sports World Reported (via Express) that Aston Villa were looking to sign Torres on loan for the duration of the 2023-24 season. The deal will also include an option to buy him for €25m at the end of the next term.
However, the report added that the player was not keen on the move, while Bid was not fond of the club either.
Notably, Ferran Torres endured a difficult 2022-23 season with Barcelona. The Spaniard could not secure a place in the first squad, having started only 18 matches. He contributed just seven goals and four assists in 45 total appearances across competitions.
Torres scored seven goals and six assists in 26 matches in the second half of the 2021-22 season, having arrived from Manchester City in January. Barcelona paid around £48m for his services and he still has four years left on his contract.
Despite his struggles last season, the forward has previously proven he has what it takes to contribute to a top European side. Torres scored 16 goals and four assists in 43 games for City and also scored 15 goals in 35 matches for Spain.
