Sakshi Ahuja, 34, died after accidentally connecting to a live wire at New Delhi Railway station complex on Sunday amidst the rain.
Delhi Police has arrested another senior Indian Railways engineer in connection with the recent death of a woman due to electrocution at New Delhi railway station, officials said on Friday.
Gopal Kumar, 37, a resident of Qutub Vihar in Chawla district of Delhi, was asked to join the investigation on Thursday, where he was informed that he was supposed to supervise the electrical infrastructure at the New Delhi railway station complex and loopholes were found in the Part of his oversight, they said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways) Apoorva Gupta said that during the course of the investigation, on Thursday, Chief Engineer Gopal Kumar was asked to join the investigation. After being questioned, he was restrained under Section 41.1a of the Code of Criminal Procedure as per procedure.
This section means that a police officer must, in all cases where the arrest of a person is not required under the provisions of subsection (1) of section 41, issue a notice directing the person against whom a reasonable complaint has been made, reliable information has been received, or there is reasonable doubt that he has committed an identifiable offence, to appear before him or such other place as may be specified in the notice.
The action against Kumar comes a day after another senior department engineer, Bharat Bhushan, 40, was asked to join the investigation and then restrained in connection with the incident.
According to the police, the Railway Authority inspected the site of the electrocution accident on 27 June.
The senior officer said, “After inspection, the spot was handed over to the railway authorities for maintenance and repair. On June 27, Bhushan was asked to join the investigation. After being questioned, he was restrained under section 41.1a of the Anti-Terrorism Act.” .

The victim’s husband, Ankit Ahuja, blamed the national carrier for negligence and demanded strict action against those responsible at fault.
A case was registered under sections 287 of the Indian Penal Code (negligence in relation to machinery) and 304a (causing death by negligence) against unidentified persons after the incident, according to the police.
