Mercedes technical director James Allison believes that the RB19 for Red Bull has some inherent qualities that make it superior to the rest, but it’s not just one factor. The Brit felt it was a streamlined design that offered plenty of downforce and was suitable for every track on the calendar.

“And they have a cornering behavior that gives the drivers more confidence than we have. I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t go in that direction. We saw it mainly at the start of the season. Earlier this year, there were suggestions that the Red Bull’s ride height could be protested, but Allison’s notes suggest there are several areas where the RB19 is better than its competitors.
