San Francisco Giants quarterback JD Davis and head coach Gabe Kapler hit the shower early during Thursday’s game with the Toronto Blue Jays. Both were dismissed for arguing balls and strikes.

Davis was a frontier pitcher in the area. Davis was soon ejected after throwing his bat and making a few words with the home plate umpire.

Unhappy with the quick dismissal, manager Gabe Kapler came to support his player. During what seemed like a quiet conversation, Kapler was asked to join JD Davis in the locker room.

It didn’t stop there. After Kapler was ejected, home plate umpire went off the Giants’ bench to speak to acting manager Kai Correa. It’s safe to say the referee’s hands are full on Thursday.

This is the first time all season that a San Francisco Giants player or coach has been fired. This is the sixth time that Kapler has been fired in his managerial career.

MLB umpires have a tough job. They are tasked with controlling the pace of the game, the player’s feelings on the field, and keeping the game fair. But lately, all anyone can talk about is how referees make games about themselves.

There have been a lot of takeouts over the past two weeks. Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli was ejected twice over three games.

Many fans have called for the league to ditch human referees and replace them with robots, but not everyone agrees this is the right move. New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone, who has had his fair share of takeouts, doesn’t want to see change. While he has seen terrible calls during his career, Boone believes their place in baseball should not be replaced.
