Two trucks have drowned in the Son River of Bihar state and at least 28 are still stuck in Katar Balu Ghat after heavy rains and waterlogging caused a flood-like situation in several low-lying areas of the state.

This comes as the state’s Meteorological Office issued an alert for light to moderate thunderstorms accompanied by rain in areas such as Arawal, Bhojpur, Buxar, Gaya, Jamui, Muzaffarpur, Nalanda, Noda, Patna, Rotas, Saran and Vaishali.
Patna received 53.45 mm of rain in the last 24 hours until 8.30 am, while Raniganj recorded 90.8 mm, Borni (77.5 mm), Madpura (75 mm), Charsha (68.8 mm), Jamui (67.3 mm), Pernia (67 mm), Al-Khattar (64.5 mm) and Al-Bank (56 mm), according to data from the Meteorological Department.
Meanwhile, the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) claimed that the rainwater was drained in the shortest possible time despite heavy rains in the past two days.
Officials said efforts are underway to drain water in other low-lying areas of the state PTI.
