A woman was forced to deliver her baby outside the maternity ward of the Civil Hospital here after she was denied entry despite waiting more than 12 hours, officials said Saturday.
The woman delivered the baby outside the ward late Friday night. A social media post about the incident quickly went viral, prompting the Chief Medical Officer (PMO) to request an investigation.
The woman’s husband, Narinder Singh, is a native of Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh. He said he works for a company and has been living with his family in Laxman Vihar Colony for several years.
Singh filed a complaint against the alleged negligence of a doctor and a nurse at the Civil Hospital who forced his wife to deliver the baby girl outside the hospital ward.
I arrived at the civil hospital around 7 am on Friday morning with my pregnant wife as she was complaining of abdominal pain. At the hospital, the nurse on the maternity ward told me to come later without examining my wife, who was groaning in pain.
“I also met the doctor in the ward but the doctor also didn’t pay attention. In such a case, until noon, we kept asking for treatment but to no avail. I felt upset and sat in the garden of the hospital building and waited outside the maternity ward at night but my wife didn’t enter the ward,” Singh said.
After waiting more than 12 hours, she had to give birth outside the maternity ward on the first floor of the hospital late Friday night. He said she had given birth to a baby girl.
“I quickly raised the alarm and only then did the staff come running out of the maternity ward and took my wife inside the ward in a wheelchair. It is such a relief that my wife and baby are safe. My wife had been pregnant twice earlier, but she could not become a mother but now we are happy to have a baby girl.” “.
Sector 9 RWA Chief Prashant Chauhan took to social media to share a post about the incident. Chauhan said that due to negligence in the civil hospital, “the life of the child and the mother could have been lost.”
Strict action should be taken against negligent doctors and staff.”
“Instructions have been given to change the duty of the nurse and guard working in the maternity ward. Another nurse and guard have been appointed in their place. The PMO of the hospital has been instructed to investigate the matter and submit a report as soon as possible. It will be done,” said Virendra Yadav, Civil Surgeon, Gurugram. Take action based on the report.”
