Delhi Police have arrested four people for allegedly kidnapping and killing a principal of a college in Jharkhand, officers said Friday.
Among those arrested was the brother of the deceased and his nephews.
On 9 June, the complainant, Fatima Khatoum, 48, stated that on 8 June, at around 10 am, her husband, Mulla Najiruddin, principal of a college in Jodha in Jharkhand, went to Bhagalpur in Bihar to do some urgent work. According to Fatima Khatoum, Najiruddin’s driver, Aman Raj, also accompanied him in the vehicle, which is a four-wheel-drive Mahindra.
The complainant alleged: “Around 6:30 pm, when he was returning, he was abducted from the Jirwa River Bridge…”.
During the investigation, Najiruddin’s body was found near a road in Gowda.
A total of 17 people were mentioned in the FIR. Delhi Police said the Pasantray Police had already arrested four suspects in the case. However, the main accused, namely Rustam Ali (34 years), the brother of the deceased, Sakib (32 years) and Soban (25 years), the nephews of the deceased, are still at large.
Basantrai Police Station got a tip-off that the three are hiding somewhere in South East Delhi and informed Delhi Police. The three were later arrested along with the fourth suspect, Amrit Thakur (25 years).
