India Meteorological Department (IMD) Monsoon rainfall over the country in July is expected to be ‘normal’ unlike June when it was ‘below normal’ with a deficit of 10%

Heavy rains continued to batter the national and financial capitals of India leading to traffic disruption due to waterlogging. India Meteorological Department (IMD), monsoon rainfall over the country in July is expected to be ‘normal’ unlike June when it was ‘below normal’ with a deficit of 10%.

“The monthly precipitation over the country as a whole during July 2023 is likely to be normal (94 to 106%) of the long-period average (LPA) and probably within the positive side of normal,” the Met Office said.

  • The weather department also predicted lower-than-normal rains for many areas in northwestern, northeastern and southeastern peninsular India.
  • Manorama Mohanty, director of MET, said that the local meeting office predicted heavy rains in some parts of Gujarat on July 1.
  • “It is raining continuously in Gujarat. On 1st of July, there is a possibility of heavy rains in some areas of the state. It is likely that rainfall will decrease in Saurashtra of Kutch from 1st July.

  • Waterlogging was reported in the Ambad Industrial Area of ​​Nashik as the city recorded 26.7 mm of rain in the 24 hours between 5:30 pm on Thursday and 5:30 pm on Friday.
  • According to the IMD, light to moderate rain is likely in the city through July 4.
