Under the new guidelines, owners of marriage promoters, party halls and dharmashals are required to maintain security protocols including CCTV cameras at all corners.

In an effort to stop ceremonial shootings in the state, usually at weddings, the Bihar Police has come up with a plan that seeks all persons to report to the local police stations any marriage taking place in the family.

A number of deaths and injuries were reported as a result of gunfire at a state celebration. Hence, we have asked state people, marriage promoters, ballrooms and dharmashall owners to report every marriage to the local police,” Sanjay Singh told Law & Order.

Under the new guidelines, owners of marriage promoters, party halls and dharamshalis are required to maintain security protocols including CCTV cameras at all corners.

Singh said that people arranging marriages in their homes should also report to the police, provide a list of the licensed weapons they have and also provide the guest list to the local police station as well.

It has been observed that enthusiastic people used to shoot in the air during marriage ceremonies, birthday parties, wedding anniversary parties, etc.

“Unnecessary dismissal is a criminal offense, and violators are subject to action and imprisonment,” CBP said.

We recorded 99 festive shootings in 2022 in which 8 people were killed and 36 injured. We confiscated 18 weapons and revoked 8 gun licenses as well. In 2023 through May 31, 9 people died in this bombing and 13 people were injured. “We have arrested 72 people in this regard and confiscated 3 weapons,” he added.
