Vince Carter is not one of the many on-air personalities to be laid off by ESPN on Friday. However, the former NBA All-Star’s contract with the global sports major may not be renewed, Front Office Sports reports.

Carter’s contract expires in September. Reports say it may be unlikely that the company will renew a deal with the NBA analyst.

The sports media giant is shedding big contracts for some of its most popular on-air personalities. These moves are part of budget cuts organized by the parent company, Disney.

After the layoffs, ESPN will scrutinize the big contracts that will expire. Carter could be one of those who don’t get an extension. Carter has worked with ESPN for the past three years.

Carter frequently contributes remotely from his home. He does not have a specific offer. He contributes on a rotating basis and is not a lead analyst for ESPN’s game broadcasts. It is likely that the company will see his deal as too expensive.

Carter may be let go along with other ESPN NBA talent. Longtime NBA analyst Jeff Van Gundy has been fired. He was ESPN’s top NBA announcer for years. NBA studio host Jalen Rose has also been let go. He worked for the company for 15 years.

Carter should be just fine without the ESPN money. He has accumulated a lot as an NBA player for 22 years.
