Neeraj Chopra skipped three major events due to a muscle strain sustained in training last month but has come back strong

Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra continued his impressive form as he returned from a month-long injury layoff to claim first place in Lausanne’s second leg of the Diamond League, his second consecutive win of the season in the prestigious one-day series. Here on Friday.

The 25-year-old Chopra had skipped three major slams due to a muscle strain sustained in training last month, but he came back with a bang when he won the Diamond League title here with a fifth-round throw of 87.66m.

Germany’s Julian Weber came in second with a best throw of 87.03 metres, while Czech Jakub Vadelich came in third with a distance of 86.13 metres.

Chopra had won the Lausanne title in August last year as well by winning his first title in the Diamond League. He then went on to win the Diamond League title in the Grand Final a month later. The Indian superstar won the season-opening Diamond League meet in Doha on May 5 with a throw of 88.67 metres.

His personal best is 89.94m. In the men’s long jump, India’s Murali Srishankar finished fifth with a sub-par jump of 7.88m achieved in the third round.

The 24-year-old Srishankar, who clinched third place in the first leg in Paris on June 9 after finishing his first Diamond League podium, cleared a career best of 8.41m during the national interstate championships in Bhubaneswar earlier in the year. This month.
