At a ceremony in Shahdol in Madhya Pradesh, the chief minister slammed the opposition and asked people to beware of “false guarantees” given by “family-centric” political parties including the Congress.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched the national sickle cell eradication mission 2047 by unveiling a portal and issuing a guideline for managing the disease and the various units to monitor it.

At a ceremony in Shahdol in Madhya Pradesh, the chief minister slammed the opposition and asked people to beware of “false guarantees” given by “family-centric” political parties including the Congress.

“Beware of those (parties) who give false guarantees. These people have given guarantee schemes even though they have no (political) guarantees of their own,” Modi said.

He said, “Parties that center around the family including Congress are coming together.”

On this occasion, Modi started distributing more than 3 crore Ayushman digital cards in the country and 1 crore Ayushman Bharat PVC cards in MP.

He announced that the 500th birth anniversary of Rani Durgavati would be celebrated all over India and stamps would be issued.

The Prime Minister distributed Sickle Cell Advice Cards to a few beneficiaries. He also physically handed over Ayushman cards and PVC Ayushman Bharat cards to some of the beneficiaries.

The National Sickle Cell Eradication Mission (NSCAEM), which aims to address the pressing health challenges posed by sickle cell disease, particularly among the tribal population, has been announced in the Federation’s 2023 budget.

Modi said the Ayushman card is a guarantee of Rs 5 lakh treatment in hospitals.

“It is a guarantee for Modi,” he added.

“The government aims to eradicate sickle cell anemia from India on a mission by 2047,” Modi said, adding that half of the total number of people affected by this disease in the world are in India.
