A 60-year-old passenger died from the ill-fated beat instantly, while the seriously injured beat driver Manoj was taken to hospital by police where doctors pronounced him dead.

Police said two men were killed in a collision between four-wheel drive vehicles on Saturday on the Balrampur-Bahrash National Highway.

Police said the accident occurred late Friday night on the highway near Udagar village.

The impact of the collision was such that Cadence fell into the roadside lane.

A 60-year-old passenger died on the spot while the seriously injured beat driver Manoj was taken to the hospital by police where doctors pronounced him dead.

Superintendent of Police Keshav Kumar said efforts were continuing to ascertain the identity of the elderly man.

He added that the bodies of the victims had been sent for an autopsy.
