Joe Root made a sensational catch at short leg to dismiss Australian Travis Head on the penultimate day of the Second Test at Lord’s on Saturday.
In over 68, Stuart Broad’s short delivery caused Head to jump in and study him with the bat. As a result, the ball moved to the left of the shortstop as Root jumped up and pulled the curtain with his left hand.
Root also became the highest ever outside catcher for England in Test cricket with this catch with 176.

On the third day of the Test, England had succumbed to a hail of shockers, slinking coolly into a crowded side field. Australia had men on the border, and also near it and England couldn’t find a way.
England then adopted the tactic on Saturday afternoon. When Ollie Robinson started it didn’t seem to make much of an impact on his pace. Then came Broad and Josh Tangye, and things started to change, as Australia lost Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith and the aforementioned chief to bouncers.
At lunch on the fourth day the match was evenly balanced with England taking 3 wickets as Australia managed to score 92 to extend their lead to 313 runs.
