Prime Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Ministers Mansukh Mandavia, Sarbananda Sonwal, Shripad Naik and Shantanu Thakur on Sunday reviewed work on the National Maritime Heritage Complex being built near Lothal in Ahmedabad, an official statement said on Sunday.
The statement added that the complex is being built with the aim of reviving the rich maritime heritage of Lothal at Rs 4,500 crore.
At the meeting in Gandhinagar, CM Patel said that to accelerate the economic, industrial and tourism development project for the district around Lothal, the state government has formed the Lothal District Development Authority.
He added that the state government has allocated 375 acres for the project. For infrastructure development outside the complex, the government has allocated Rs 147 crore. This money will be spent on roads, water and electricity in the region.
According to the statement, during the meeting, the progress of work on the project and the works under construction were discussed. During the meeting, the Indian Navy, Indian Railways and Ropeway Company also signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of the Navy Gallery in the complex.
