The National Intelligence Agency, in a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs, requested the transfer of at least 25 gang members from prisons in northern India to southern states.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), on the directives of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), has started transferring at least 15 dreaded gangsters who are currently imprisoned in the jails of Delhi, Punjab and Haryana, to Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The National Intelligence Agency, in a letter sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs, requested the transfer of at least 25 gangsters from prisons in northern India to southern states. The list included Lawrence Bishnoi, the main suspect in the murder case of singer and politician Saidu Musiwala.

Home Affairs sources said the initial suggestion was to move the gangsters to jails in south India, but the process of getting permission from state governments would take time.

“Since the Andaman and Nicobar Islands is a Union Territory, and its administration is under the MHA, the procedure will take less time. The agency is currently seeking a legal opinion as well.” Indian Express According to him.

Sources told News18 that gangsters being held in south Indian prisons may also be transferred to northern India’s Hindi-speaking states in Mubadala.
