And according to RAI Sport, Manchester United is ready to double Soufiane Amrabat’s salary in order to close the Moroccan’s transfer from Fiorentina.
Amrabat, 26, is contracted with the Italian First Division club until the end of the 2023-24 season. The aforementioned report claimed that the Red Devils had agreed personal terms with the player by offering to double his salary.
Amrabat gained prominence through his performance during the 2022 FIFA World Cup where he helped Morocco to a fourth-place finish. He was also part of the Fiorentina team that finished runners-up in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
The 26-year-old is tenacious in his play. Apart from Manchester United, Barcelona have also been linked with a transfer for the player in January. Amrabat had previously expressed interest in playing in the English Premier League. Before the UECL Final against West Ham, he said (via Manchester Evening News):
“Of course, the Premier League is a great league and one of the strongest leagues in the world. It would be nice to play there, one day, but I don’t just want to go to England, because Spain is great, Serie A is a beautiful league.”
he added:
“Football has changed a lot, it’s become more physical. You have to be athletic, the rhythm and intensity are higher. Of course, in England the intensity was very high. I think he could suit me.”
It will be interesting to see where the future of the 26-year-old Fiorentina midfielder lies.
The Red Devils’ interest in Amrabat’s little brother (Soufiane) is well documented. He has been a key player for Fiorentina of recent times and his performances for club and country have garnered interest from bigger clubs.
Noureddine Amrabat, Sofiane’s older brother, had previously confirmed that several major clubs are interested in the 26-year-old. Sharing his opinion on the matter, Noureddine said (via One Football):
“I can name three clubs who have been strong in the last two or three days of the transfer window. Manchester United wanted a loan with an option to buy a deal, but Fiorentina refused.”
However, recent reports indicate that Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Sofiane Amrabat. With the team back in the Champions League next season, Erik ten Hag is looking to strengthen his squad, and the Moroccan could be a great addition to the team.
