Real Madrid are said to believe they are set to receive a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia for Ferland Mendy.

The French left-back was signed from Lyon in July 2019 for €48m. But things didn’t go according to plan for him in Madrid and according to Cadena SER (h/tMadridXtra), Los Blancos are anticipating an offer for him from the Saudi Professional League.

Mandy had no problem finding the minutes. He scored five goals and ten assists in 133 appearances across competitions during his four-year stay at the Santiago Bernabéu.

However, his ability on both ends of the field has let him down in recent seasons. It was reported in May that Real Madrid were looking for a promotion to the France international.

They signed Fran Garcia this summer from Rayo Vallecano, and he could be made into the first team. Hence, mandi can be considered as expendable. He has two years left on his contract.

Saudi clubs have been making their mark in the transfer market in recent months. Their ambition is backed by their financial clout, which has seen stars like Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Cristiano Ronaldo move to the Middle East.

Mendy has €250m on his contract and attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain earlier this year. However, club president Florentino Perez appears not to be open to letting him join the Paris-based giants due to the saga of Kylian Mbappe last summer.

Toni Kroos has admitted plans to retire after Real Madrid’s renewal

Toni Kroos halted any plans to retire from football this summer, penning a one-year contract at Real Madrid.

Kroos was destined to become a free agent but decided to renew his deal at the club where he had been working since 2014. He is still 33 and looks like he is not done yet.

There is a possibility that he will be able to hang up his boots at the end of next season. In a recent interview with Marca (h/t Madrid Universal), he was asked to shed light on his retirement plans. The former Bayern Munich midfielder said:

“There’s one or two negative examples, just not being able to leave football when you’re no longer the player people think of you. I don’t want that to happen to me. I want to retire on a really good level.”

Kroos has shown no signs of slowing down and made 52 appearances across competitions for Carlo Ancelotti’s side last season. He has won 20 trophies in Madrid, including four victories in the UEFA Champions League.
