In a press conference after the ceremony, Pawar said: “..most of the MLAs are satisfied with that. We have supported this government with the NCP. We will contest all elections in the name of the NCP only..”.

After joining the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government as Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar on Sunday said that all MLAs were with him, including senior party members and that they did not divide the National Congress Party (NCP).

Pawar said in a press conference after the ceremony: “We have spoken with the senior officials… We have all the numbers, all the MLAs with me. We are here as a party. We have informed all the seniors too. The majority is important in democracy.”

Pawar stressed that if the NCP can join hands with the BJP in Nagaland, why can’t it be done for the betterment of Maharashtra and its people.

Pawar also paid tribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that the country is advancing under his leadership. It is also popular in other countries. Everyone supports him and appreciates his leadership.”

Pawar added that they will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha assembly elections with the Saffron Party but in the name of the NCP only.

“.. Most of our MLAs are satisfied with this. We have supported this government with the National Congress Party. We will run in all elections in the name of the National Party only..”.

“A lot of people are going to be a little bit critical now. We don’t value it and we will continue to work for the progress of Maharashtra and that is why we have taken this decision.”

Maharashtra State Minister Chajan Pojapal, who also addressed the journalist, said, “We have joined the government as a third party. Few people say we have divided the party but that is not true. We have come here as NCP. We have also criticized Modi government on many occasions but it is true That the country is safe in his hands.”

Sources said that the presence of NCP Chairman Sharad Pawar and party leader Supriya Soli at the opposition meeting in Patna aroused the ire of Ajit Pawar and his supporters. While Ajit Pawar was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister by Governor Ramesh Pais at the ceremony at Raj Bhawan, eight other NCP leaders were sworn in as ministers.

Those sworn in as ministers are Chajan Bhojbal, Dilip Wallis Patel, Hassan Musharraf, Dhananjay Mundi, Aditi Tatkar, Dharmarao Atram, Anil Patel and Sanjay Bansud.
