Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar speaks in a motion of condolence during the first day of the state legislative session that started on Monday.

Among the list of persons in the obituary reference is Ex-MP and Working Chairman of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) R Dhruvanarayana, 62, who died of a heart attack in March this year before the state assembly elections. At that time, Dhruvanarayana was considered as the favorite to win from Nanjangud constituency in Mysuru district.

“He should have sat next to me, here, as a minister,” said Shivakumar, tearing up. “He should have been here. No one can stop him… Today, he is not there. His wife is not there. Only his son is with me, as an MLA. Many of his followers are injured. ” said the conference leader with a trembling voice. Less than a month after Dhruvanarayana’s death The family was dealt another blow as his wife, Veena, died in a private hospital in Mysuru in April.

The Congress then put forward their son, Darshan Druvanarayana, 28, as a candidate from Nanjangod constituency and won by a margin of 47,000 votes. He is the youngest member of the 16th Karnataka Legislative Assembly which came to power in May.

Shivakumar said that Dhruvanarayana was of a kind nature and always had a smiling face, remembering that he never talked about caste. “We talk about caste all the time. Being from the SC community, he never talked about caste and took everyone together. We lost a great brother and friend. It hurts to offer condolences during the move,” he said.

“Dhruvanarayana was with me as a student leader. Later, he once joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. I brought him back to the Congress,” recalls the Deputy Prime Minister, noting that the first KPC work chief’s victory in 2004 was by a single vote.
